P&G acquired the brand in 1990 from the Shulton Company. In the late 2000s, P&G introduced many forms of deodorant sticks, body washes, and body sprays in several scents – including Odor Blocker Body Wash which they then stated to market using Internet and TV ads. This led to the Old Spice commercial with Terry Crews. When introduced on the Internet, the Odor Blocker Body Wash Old Spice commercials with Terry Crews were immediately successful.
