Filmed in 3D over a two-night stint at the historic entertainment venue, these Peter Gabriel shows were also recorded as the basis for his third live album, Live Blood. Gabriel performs some of the best known and most beloved songs from his long career, accompanied by a full orchestra, guest vocalists, and an artful multimedia production.

Peter Gabriel was born in Surrey, England in 1950. Trained in the piano at a young age, Gabriel demonstrated a strong musical aptitude and was soon playing in teenage bands at his school. In 1967, Gabriel and four schoolmates founded Genesis, an experimental and progressive rock group noted for lead singer Gabriel’s flamboyant and enigmatic stage presence that would sell over 100 million records worldwide throughout its long career.

Genesis developed serious buzz and a loyal following across Britain and Europe until Peter Gabriel unexpectedly left the group in 1975 to pursue a solo career. Gabriel crafted artistically challenging albums while still managing breakthrough popular successes on the singles charts such as “Solsbury Hill” and “Sledgehammer”. Peter Gabriel also innovated in the sphere of music videos, where his memorable stop-motion animated clip for “Sledgehammer” redefined the medium and scored nine MTV Video Music Awards in 1987, becoming one of the defining sights and sounds of the decade in the process.

Peter Gabriel has also toured extensively, composed film scores, and collaborated with musicians as diverse as Daniel Lanois, Trent Reznor, Sinéad O’Connor, Kate Bush, and Youssou N’Dour. He is active in various humanitarian causes and has been a strong supporter of world music through the World of Music, Arts, and Dance organization as well as through his Real World Records label and Real World Studios recording facilities.
New Blood Live in London features orchestral versions of many songs by Peter Gabriel and other artists from previous and future orchestral cover albums. Both the album and concert DVD produced from the performances at the Hammersmith Apollo were released in the year after their recording, and demonstrate a singular, seasoned, consummate artist and performer aging gracefully along with his seminal musical work.
