North End (little Italy) – New Girl on the Block

[Part 1] ABRACADABRA – In this introductory episode we’re introduced to both Boston’s unique North End, or little Italy, and some of the film’s  main characters. Rat , a small time hood and Johnny Shoes, a big time bookie as they nearby  sit in the Café Roma, setting up a “job” in Charlestown: a job that literally blows up in Rat’s face. Injun Joe, a cop and life long resident of the North End , protects his best friend’s daughter from a spoiled rich kid drug dealer and incurs the wrath of his wife who resents his inability to cut the cord to his old neighborhood. And Mikey the Mouth Brandano, the jovial owner of the Café Roma, scolds his pal Rat for drinking Dolly Donuts coffee instead of Mouth’s champion Roma espresso.
